CABCY is a voluntary society set up to help children, youth and adults recognize the different forms of bullying, its effects on the targets of bullying and what can be done to help reduce or prevent bullying. CABCY exists to be a resource for children, youth, parents, teachers, child workers, social workers, counsellors and other people who work with children and youths to obtain help and advice on issues concerning bullying. Statement of Faith CABCY is a society comprised of responsible volunteers who believe in providing children and youths with safe and secure environments void of bullying. CABCY will work with individual children, youth, parents, teachers and any authorities or organisations involved with children and youths to:
8 Rs Objectives of CABCY We believe in helping the community recognize the difference forms of bullying that can happen to children and youth. This will be through methods and approaches appropriate to the environments of children and youth and would be in collaboration with the authorities working with those involved. We believe in helping children and youth and the adults who are working with them to reduce the ‘cycle of bullying’ where those who have experienced prolonged bullying may themselves bully others and those who have bullied may become targets of bullying. We believe in helping children, youth and adults to report all forms of harmful bullying to those in a position to help them. Early recognition and reporting of bullying can limit harm and break the bullying cycle. We believe in helping those who bully to reform their behaviour through recommended approaches; working with their peers and responsible adults in their lives such as their parents, guardians, teachers, counsellors, principals or psychologists. We would encourage development of policies for dealing with bullying behaviour; CABCY would be available to review these in conjunction with professionals and leaders of the relevant organizations. We believe in working with professionals, specialists and authorities governing children and youth towards responsible intervention against bullying. Bullying may lead to serious conditions in those who are bullied including – school avoidance, anxiety, depression and suicide. It may also lead to the person who has been bullied behaving as a bully. CABCY would provide E-consultation, training and other activities to address the problem, working towards the reduction of these harmful effects. We will provide resources and volunteers to help organizations to achieve the status of a Bully Free Zone for their environment. To achieve this objective, we believe in collaborating with organizations, schools, community and social workers, law enforcers and governors of children and youth to reinforce positive practices and provide solutions that will help create a 'Bully Free Zone'. |
